Online Systems/Administration FAQ

What do we need to do to make sure our computers are ready for online testing?
Configuration Requirements:

  • NOCTI and Whitener Group websites should be added to your Trusted Sites configuration in order to ensure maximum effectiveness. Details for verifying Trusted Sites are available at your Client Services Center in the Test Administration section.
  • Popup-blocking software prevents the assessment windows from loading, and must be deactivated to take assessments. Examples of software that contain popup-blockers include toolbars and Internet properties/options, and can also include some firewall and antivirus software packages.

For detailed information on computer set up and the QuadNet online testing system, please refer to the Online Systems Guide for Site Coordinators or log on to the Client Services Center (http://clientservices.nocti.org).

Can the tests be delivered on either a Mac or PC platform?
Yes, the QuadNet online system supports both Macintosh and Microsoft Windows systems.  Refer to the Online Systems Guide for Site Coordinators for more information.

Can online tests be administered in multiple-sessions?
NOCTI assessments may be administered in multiple sessions (maximum of 3 sessions for most assessments) provided the total administration time allotted does not exceed the time allowed for each assessment.  State managed program guidelines may vary.

What accommodations are available for special populations?
Accommodations in accordance with the student’s Individual Education Plan (IEP) may be used during NOCTI test administration, such as providing a reader, testing in small groups or individually and extending test time.  Also, NOCTI offers all Job Ready assessments in large print editions as well as Text to Speech (TTS) versions for online administration.

What is text-to-speech?  Is there a charge for this feature?
The text-to-speech delivery option provides an online test taker with the ability to view questions and answer choices in a larger font and to hear the questions and answer choices read by a computerized voice.  There is no additional charge for this option.

Are the test takers required to answer the demographic questions?
No, completion of demographic questions is not required, but is strongly encouraged as NOCTI uses the data collected for analysis.

Can extra time be added to an online test?
Time extensions may be arranged in advance for students whose IEP identifies this accommodation.  Test time may also be extended due to interruptions caused by computer malfunctions, power outages, etc., during test administration.  If interruptions occur, call NOCTI to request additional time.

How will I know when my online user codes and passwords are available for use?
The Site Coordinator will receive an email notification that online user codes are ready for pick up at the Client Services Center (http://clientservices.nocti.org).

Why are my user codes showing up with an “in process” status in the Client Services Center?
“In process” status indicates that the students assigned to the user codes have not completed the online assessment or failed to score their test upon completion.

Why didn’t I receive answer sheets for our performance tests?
For performance assessments ordered as a set with an online written test, performance ratings must be entered using the online system, not paper/pencil answer sheets. This ensures that the online test and performance ratings will be submitted electronically at the same time and that the information is tied to the same participant name and user code.
