Scoring Information FAQ

Can answer sheets be faxed to NOCTI?
No, the original answer sheets must be used for electronic scanning.  Faxed copies cannot be read by the scanner.

Where do I find my score reports?
Score reports are provided electronically for Site Coordinators access in the Client Services Center (http://clientservices.nocti.org) and are available for one year from the test date.  If you are a teacher, please contact your school’s Site Coordinator for score information.

What is the timeline for receiving score reports?
Score reports are available at the online Client Services Center (http://clientservices.nocti.org) within two weeks (10 business days) from the date the answer sheets are received at NOCTI, providing that correctly completed answer sheets have been submitted.  Score reports for online administration are available two weeks (10 business days) after the tests are released for scoring from the Client Services Center.

What causes a delay in the scoring process?
Additional processing time may be required if incomplete or incorrectly completed answer sheets need to be returned to the Site Coordinator for completion/correction before they can be scored.  If a Site Coordinator has not released online test taker scores, this will cause a delay in receiving site data analysis.

How do I know when my reports are complete?
A notification email is sent to the Site Coordinator when the score reports are available for access/printing at the online Client Services Center.

Why isn’t there comparative information displayed for pre-tests?
The pre-assessments consist of only the written portion of the assessment.  Scores provided for pre-assessments consist of only individual scores. The pre-assessment score reports are designed to assist instructors and students in identifying strengths and gap areas that will need further remediation.

How often are the national averages updated?
National averages are computed twice a year in January and July and are reported at three levels (site, state and nation).  Each time the averages are updated, score reports available in the Client Services Center will reflect the most recent averages.

My students took part in a pilot test.  Can I use these scores as part of their course grade?
Using pilot test scores to determine a student grade is NOT recommended.  Pilot testing is one step in the process used to develop a valid test.  Many times modifications are made to an assessment based on item analysis results from pilot testing.

How can I use my scores?
NOCTI assessment score data can be used to demonstrate student learning and competency, pinpoint weaknesses/gaps in student performance, improve curriculum, and demonstrate accountability to various constituents.  Through articulation agreements, scores may be used as the basis for advanced placement of secondary students in post secondary institutions.

How can we download score information to our system?
The Client Services Center provides two options for exporting scoring information.  The first method is to export to a PDF file. The PDF file can be saved to a local computer and may be printed as well.  The second method is to export to an Excel file.  Once the reporting data is in Excel spreadsheet format, the file may be saved and the data manipulated as desired.
