A message from our Board Chair
April 29, 2020
The last few weeks have been unlike anything I, and probably most of you, have ever experienced. It has been a roller-coaster of emotions for everyone in my house.
My 10-year-old daughter went from elated at the idea of a two-week Spring Break, to saddened at the reality she would be without her friends and teachers for the foreseeable future.
Our family dog has gone from loving the increase in walks and attention to disgusted that we continue to infringe on his nap time. For me, this experience has created worry about the
well-being of my students, both in the immediate (Are they healthy? Are they safe?) and the long-term (How will they finish the curriculum? Will they be able to find jobs after graduation?)
But, it has also created incredible testaments to the strength of community. Every day I see stories highlighting amazing acts of kindness. From teddy bears perched in living room windows,
to strangers assisting each other with day-to-day needs, to CTE manufacturing programs designing health care shields that can be produced on 3-D printers. Our lives may be forever changed
by this experience. For me, I hope that change is reflected in a closer relationship to my family and a deeper appreciation for the little things in life. I wish each of you health and
strength in this trying time. As Mahatma Gandhi said "In the midst of darkness, light persists."
