Connecticut Career and Technical Education (CTE) is committed to high quality CTE programs which assist students in meeting standards, including preparation for high-skill, high-wage or high demand occupations in current and emerging professions.
NOCTI and CTE Assessments
The foundation of the statewide CTE assessment program is clearly defined performance standards and competencies that have been specifically aligned with existing CTE national standards. The Connecticut State Department of Education, along with educators and business/industry representatives, developed the performance standards and competencies for each of the seven CTE instructional programs that include 21 areas of concentration.
Local high school results in the state CTE assessments are:
An important tool to support and facilitate students learning by providing meaningful information regarding focused instruction on performance standards and individual student acquisition of competencies; and
An important component in driving coherent professional learning opportunities for teachers of CTE.
The 21 areas of concentration are listed below. Sample Items are available by selecting the appropriate link.
