The American Boat & Yacht Council (ABYC) is a not-for-profit, member organization with a goal of making boating safer. This includes everything from the development of voluntary global safety standards for the design, construction, maintenance, and repair of recreational boats to a dedicated commitment of providing technical education, training, certification and professional development for the international marine industry.
ABYC offers a marine service technology program to help secondary schools implement standards based curriculum with an inland or coastal focus. NOCTI has collaborated with ABYC to be the assessment provider for the Marine Service Technician (Inland and Coastal — Core) Certification associated to this curriculum. This certification is a nationally recognized exam that will provide successful students with an industry recognized entry-level credential.

Students successfully passing the Marine Service Technician (Inland and Coastal — Core) with a 71.3% or higher will earn an industry recognized entry-level certificate issued by ABYC.
